DENMAN COLLEGE
|
TWO Hutton and Howick regulars had a “jam-packed” day out at Denman College this month Pat Forder and Caroline Emberton spent the day at the WI Cookery School on a soft fruit jam-making course The pair came away with a bumper crop of produce after boiling and setting almost ten pounds of jam using a variety of methods and techniques learned on the day Said Pat: “We had a thoroughly enjoyable day and were pleasantly surprised by how well we managed to get to grips with the process of making jam. The tutor, Carrie O’Regan was excellent and her demonstrations were pitched perfectly for novices like us.” Added Caroline: “As relative newcomers to the WI, this was our first taste of the College but I’m sure we will return for more courses in the future. For now though, I think I will be spending the rest of the summer harvesting fruit from the garden and foraging in hedgerows to make jam to see me through the winter.”
